Counseling is a battlefield - challenging our past, our emotions, our beliefs of how life is supposed to be. At Arena Counseling, we want to contend with you in these things. We love to come alongside in the fight for what is true and to help people find the security that God has promised in Christ. We want to enter your arena of life with you, combating together the enemies that would destroy.
Feel like that doesn't describe you? Like you don't belong? That's part of the battle. Counseling is an investment in yourself, to see things become as they've never been before. You can always contact us for an introductory conversation to see if it's a good fit.
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
We believe in the strength of who God made you to be - whole in body, mind, and spirit. We believe he has given us everything we need for life and for godliness. Sometimes what we need is help from another. The Bible is rife with examples of how we need not and should not go it alone. You can benefit from the over 8,000 clinical sessions completed working with a wide variety of backgrounds, difficulties, circumstances, worldviews, religious beliefs, and emotions.
I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology from Iowa State University, then my master's degree in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. I've trained in EMDR, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) , Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and many other areas. I predominantly operate from a CBT perspective - looking at how thoughts, actions, and emotions interact together to work through difficulty and pursue greater health. I see the Bible as being the highest authority on life and godliness. I integrate the discoveries of the world through science without compromising on Scripture.
